SO, snow sports were never really my thing as my parents always hated the cold, and when I did go up to Big Bear or Lake Tahoe, my friends and I would "apres ski" rather than actually hitting the slopes. AND I mean what's better than a spiked hot cocoa or a bloody marry when you're soaking up the snow in front of a warm fire place.
PS I LOVE the FRESH dropped snow, it make me miss NY! I would have been happy playing with the 5-7 year olds with sleds and tubes. I almost bought the Supreme Sled TBH ... maybe next time.
A lot of my friends ski, and I've always been pretty athletic so I decided to take a trip to Mammoth with some friends (who mind you have skii'd their whole life) and see what the hype is all about...first order of business...SKI CLOTHES!
Kit lender - So obv I was super worried about an outfit as I don't have ANY ski clothes and I wasn't sure how often Mammoth would be a thing so I didn't want to break the bank on ski clothes. I stumbled across Kit Lender and lets just say they are LIFE!!! Basically you pick out a set (jacket/jacket under layer/goggles/gloves/pants) and they ship it to you one day before you leave for your trip and then you send it back the day after you get back from your trip. So its roughly $100 to rent for a 3 day trip - I suggest ordering in advance as their expedited shipping costs are astronomical!
Ok a few things to know about me:
1. I went snowboarding about 10 years ago. I remember it being super hard the first day- lets just say a lot of asS plants, and easier the next day
3. Previous to 2 weeks ago I had never even tried skiing and can't even remember the last time I was on a snow covered mountain ... check out the video below of my first ever Ski (2 weekends ago)
THEN, last weekend, we decided to do another Mammoth trip - so for the second time around, I turned to my friends again and they said "give Skiing one more try- it's just like riding a bike, you shouldn't have any trouble this go around" (to bad I don't know how to ride a bike. I had improved but my focus was more on ...wait for it...SNOWMOBILING!
Check it outtt...it's absolutely gorgeous!
I had only been jet-skiing before and I absolutely love it- I have a NEED FOR SPEED! So when I saw that we could take a tour with Snowmobiles I immediately signed up (it's worth the $150 - TRUST ME and you're out there for a couple hours.
Love FWSS

- Well I studied up a bit (watching youtube videos) and the common theory was that skiing is easier to learn but harder to perfect, while snowboarding is harder to learn but easier after a bit. Not only that I was watching "how to" videos thinking it would help translate on to the mountain- yahhh...not so much!
