NY Fashion Week: Ralph Lauren...Vroom Vroom

Ralph Lauren: "Defining modern luxury with romantic elegance and timeless style since 1967."

Ralph Lauren celebrated his 50 years in fashion, by bringing a whole new meaning to modern luxury by showing his Fall 2017 collection in his secret Bedford Mills, NY garage. The show was staged around a Red (signature color) Ferrari, Silver Porsche, Yellow McLaren and the most expensive car (ever) 1938 Bugatti 57SC Atlantic that cost 40 million dollars alone.

The collection's color scheme matched with the cars displayed. The looks were accented with racing stripes, race car numbers, Monte Carlo (where the richest of the rich live and where the most popular F1 race is) jackets, and leather accents.

Although his looks were centered around racing, he still incorporated some of the seasons trends such as plaid, strong trench coats and mixed material (leather) dresses.

Kendall Jenner definitely totally crushed it in this dress, one of my favorite look from the show.

It is hard to see the cars, but head over to Complex, and check out the video of the show to get a better look.

What is even more funny or rather a coincidence is that I just posted about how I am very into luxury cars, so to see this was like a dream come true (minus the fact I wasn't in attendance).  Also, I had previously posted about how the fashion culture is changing and some designers are making there collection available straight from the runway, which is what Ralph Lauren did as well (hence why it's his Fall 2017 show).  This was also his first show that presented both the Women's and Men's collection together.

Definitely an epic show!

Cars: Mercedes' Project One Unveiling

So, (why do i feel like i start off every post with "so" - oh well) not only am I a fashion fanatic and foodie, I am also very into cars, I would say more than the average girl. Now maybe it is because I'm in LA and see these supercars speeding around town or because I have a lot of guy friends - well either way I LOVE em, especially the hypercars. I love Lewis Hamilton so I watch a lot of F1 and I remember seeing early last year how Mercedes was working on a car like this.

Well thanks to Mercedes Benz, the world has finally been introduced to the Project 1 Car. It is the closest you can get to a street legal car that is in par with Formula 1 Vehicles (side note: can't wait to go the F1 Race when I'm in Japan!) Here's a few things you should know about it:
  • There will only be 275 made
  • The selling price starts at 2.72 mill dollars
  • It has 1000 horse power with a top speed of 217 MPH, and although the Bugatti is faster when going 0- 60 the Project one is faster going from 0 -120
  • It is a plug in hybrid (similar to a tesla)

According to Mercedes, "The hypercar is the most ambitious project we have ever undertaken. It represents a highlight in the strategic development of Mercedes-AMG. We call it a concept, because obviously we don't have any certified data for things such as emissions and so on [at the moment]. The finished car will be pretty similar," Moers revealed."

Here's a little bit more about me & cars: I always say if I could have 9 cars (3 SUV's, 3 Coupe/Sedans, 3 Hypercars) it would be the ones listed below:  (click the car name to find out more), and this just shows, we all have our own goals, I would love to OWN just one of these one day.

SUV's:
Coupe/Sedans:
I am thinking about rebranding my blog and instagram to be a bit more wide range with posts like this one, about cars; or even about mens fashion. As I like GQ, I just picked it up today, I saw an article about the street fashion.

NY Fashion Week: Spring 2018- Part 2

This NYFW and its crazy to see how the world of runway fashion has changed.  Designers are making their fashion show, I feel, more about the atmosphere and extremity of it, then the actual clothes themselves. The two that stand out most to me that have gone a bit "extra" are Phillipp Plein and Rihanna. Phillipp Plein always puts on a crazy theme runway show, that is more of a spectacle that anything. However, it is always jam packed with celebrities both on the runway and off. He is at the top of his game right now with 3 lables: Phillip Plein, Plein Sport, and Billionaires club along with dressing Mayweather for the fight.

Phillipp Plein has always been known to go over the top, with good reasoning, he explained to Fashionista.com: "...that he puts on such spectacles so that his independent namesake label can stand up against its more established luxury-brand competitors." For example, last year he showed in Milan right after Gucci, the year before that he showed after Chanel.

1. Phillipp Plein- For his Spring 2018 collection he "hosted" his show at 1OAK with basically a full blown concert to match featuring Future, Nicki Minaj, and Teyana Taylor (who gave a runway "walk" that can't be topped).  He also had rappers like Rich the Kid, Swae Lee of Rae Srummerd, 21 Savage and Metro Boomin walking the runway for his mens collection

From left to right: 21 Savage, Rich the Kid, Metro Boomin, Swae Lee, Future (with Phillip Plein)

Fashion wise, Vogue Runway didn't have the nicest review, and is also semi funny.

"Plein showed women’s and men’s concurrently, under the theme “Good Gone Bad.” His recurrent logo was a ball-gagged and bonded Alice in Wonderland character (or was it Elsa from Frozen?). Some T-shirts read Plein Fairytale Crew. Was it a fairy tale? No. And cheaply glamorizing that logo and idea was icky, but some other pieces were brief flashes of, let’s say, decent dreams—the kind that flicker through the night quickly and might be hard to remember come morning, but still appeared all the same"

In my opinion, the mens shoes were sick, however the bondage them was a bit tacky and extra. The women's hair was done like ruponzel, which was probably influenced by Nicki Minaj as she is always wearing hair down to her knees. He did go out with a bang with Teyana Taylor's catwalk moment.

2. Fenty x Puma (Rihanna)- Rihanna moved her Fenty X Puma show back to New York, she had set up the runway as if you were dirt biking thru mountains as her collection was a bit X Games inspired.
Rihanna pull up game strong
And once again we are seeing some of the trends, fuschia color, trash/plastic bag type material, bra tops, and the cross shoulder fanny pack - which trend was brought back from brands like Goyard and Gucci.

3. Alexander Wang- Now, Aleander Wang did not have an over the top show, however he did have the top models wearing headbands bascially, that read, "Wangover", "Party Animal" "After After Party". At the same time he was keeping on trend with blazers, bra tops, and capes. At the end of the day, the show was played very safe but I still LOVE it.

Overall, it will be interesting if the European fashion houses do something similar.
