Why I LOVE KANYE as much as KANYE LOVES KANYE...

...and you should too! Before you click away JUST LISTEN & READ...

Yes he may think he is G-D
Yes he may have an ego on another level
Yes he may have his crazy moments (but don't we all)
Yes he is married to Kim Kardashian (enough to drive anyone crazy)
Yes he may have opposing political views compared to a lot of the hip-hop community but at the end of the day....we need to give credit to where credit is due.

7 Reasons WHY I LOVE KANYE AS MUCH AS KANYE LOVES KANYE

NOW hear me out & you may learn a thing or two!

1. Through The Wire
Did you know Kanye got in a near fatal car accident and almost had to have his jaw wired shut which would have ended his singing career. This is where "Through the Wire" off his debut album "College Dropout" (2004) came from; even more ironic he paid for it himself and was inspired by an Adidas Ad - HELLO FORESHADOW!

2. February 12, 2016 - Madison Square Garden NY

  • Kanye drops his "The Life of Pablo" album in front of 20,000 people including Anna Wintour and Carine Roitfield
  • Hosts his fashion show with over 1200 (mostly African American Models) sanding still for 90 minutes (controversial but thats who he is)
  • Kanye announces he's releasing a video game in his late mother Donda's honor
  • Kanye worked with Oliver Rousteing (of Balmain) to create Yeexy x Balmain pieces for the family

3. One Word: YEEZY
Riddle me this:

  • How many companies are able to sell their sneakers at around $200 retail and have them resell for up to 500% markup,  have people waiting in line, shutting down servers, selling out in 30 seconds, AND still have the hype - per se - after 3 years (the first yeezy shoe dropped in February 2015)
  • I bet Nike is regretting not giving them his royalties he wanted - which is why he went to adidas (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adidas_Yeezy)
Click here to check out Kanye West (the greatest rapper) vs Michael Jordon (greatest basketball player) and see if "Yeezy Yeezy Yeezy just jumped over Jumpman" (Facts - TLOP)

4. Kanye's 2017 Christmas Gift to Kim - STOCK-ing stuffers.

Kanye West's gave a new meaning to STOCK-ing stuffers.

What do you get someone that has EVERYTHING? Well just leave it to Kanye to solve the problem.

Kanye gifted Kim $200,000 worth of stocks in Disney, Netflix, Amazon, Apple, and Adidas!!!

How many of today's rappers even know about the stock market (yes I'm talking to you lil pump, lil xan, rich the kid - ya'll gonna be broke in a few years if you keep spending all your money on chains and Gucci, but besides the point)

5. VIRGIL ABLOH & YE - A Timeline

I've loved Kanye for awhile now, despite his ego and outrageous quotes, and if you know the early days of Kanye then you know Virgil Abloh - pre Off-White and Menswear designer of Louis Vuitton. He's shaped fashion thru his out of the box thinking and collaborations for forever

  • 2004 (another FORESHADOW) "Kanye announced during a music festival, "Cause you know damn well there aren’t no black guys or celebrities making no Louis Vuitton nothing,”
  • 2009: Virgil Abloh and Kanye meet during an internship at Fendi - yes the one and only Kanye was running around grabbing coffee - even though he was a multiple Grammy award winner at this time - this is probably one of Kanye's most humble moment
  • 2010: Ye made Abloh the creative directer of the his creative agency, DONDA (named after his mother)
  • 2011: Abloh served as an artistic director on Jay-Z/Kanye West album Watch the Throne
Abloh then goes on to create another HYPE brand "OFF WHITE" -  If you know the world of street style then you know "Off White".

Interestingly enough Off x White by Nike has taken the street style world to another level - good luck trying to cop these for anything less than 2k - well at least the Jordan's. So Abloh & Nike, West & Adidas!

AND we all know where he is now...whats up Louis Vuitton.

Ironically enough: Kanye has launched three shoes with LV (as he "snuck to Giuseppe Zanotti factory still under contract and learned to design woman’s shoes for 2 years" - Highsnobiety

6. "The Life of Pablo" Tour and Merchandise
Kanye West went on the infamous Life of Pablo Tour a couple years ago - yes he may have had his mental breakdown but understandable.

  • The Stage: Kanye was the first ever to make a floating stage which allowed for all concert goers to see Kanye equally
  • The Merch: Not only did Kanye have exclusive merchandise for each show, but his TLOP Pop - UP shops in all major cities generated lines of over 500 people, some who even camped out, trying to score coveted Pablo clothing. Cities included: London, Paris, Los Angeles, Sydney, New York, and of course CHICAGO.
  • Not to mention Kanye was doing 9 straight shows in a row - how many other artists are on that flow...full shows, not to be confused with appearances!

7. "Make America Great Again" & his Tweets!
OK now here is where we get a political. Many people & celebreties will argue:

Trump hates black people
Trump is racist
The way Trump treats women is unacceptable - "#metoo"
Trump is trash - Margaret Cho
Trump is ignorant - Shakira
Trump is an embarrassment to the country - John Legend
"FDT" - YG, Nipsey Hussle, G-Easy, Mackelmore

BLAH BLAH BLAH - All these celebrities and artists also threatened to move to Canada - Um last time I checked you are ALL still here.  EVEN MORE to MY POINT: Kanye West is the only one out there whose putting his words into actions. All you sit and complain and do nothing - oh wait sorry - you march for women.

Take a look at some of his tweets from his twitter spree the past few days:
He even posts texts from his friends like John Legend who disagree with him & of course Kim had to tell him these are his views *eye roll*, and is using the DR who performed his mothers final surgery as his next album cover.

Lets put our political views aside and agree to disagree, or even agree to agree - lets all LOVE

NOW TELL ME HOW MANY OTHER ARTISTS CAN ACHIEVE SOMETHING OF THIS MAGNITUDE...I'LL WAIT.

*never mind the fact ME, Trump, and KANYE are Geminis :)

Spring Style: Banana Leaf Print Trend

SO, if you couldn't tell from my outfit blog/insta posts (sare_uh)- I don't wear much color, or prints. HOWEVER, I've recently been inspired to break outside my fashion comfort zone and try some new looks...starting with these banana leaf print or palm print (call it what you want) mules from Schutz*.

Schutz D'Ana Mule: unfortunately they are sold out but Shopbop, Amazon, & Revolve carry this brand

*Schutz has some great shoes for under $200 - I have a couple of their heels also and I must say they are pretty comfortable.

These are a great shoe for spring, on trend, & add some color to my wardrobe! Here's how I styled mine...(obv champ makes the outfit but yah)

Faux Fur Reversible Knitted Vest: Bloomingdales, Top: Free People, Jeans: JBRAND Jeans, Bag: Goyard, Sunglasses: Dita
Top: H&M, Jeans: JBRAND Jeans, Bag: Gucci
This picture brings me back to the old days (before my tripod) of "from where sarah stands"

The banana leaf trend has been popping up everywhere this season with designers like Alice & Olivia and Milly doing their own take on it.

Alice & Oliva
From Left to Right: Benny Smocked Wide Band Pant with matching top (shop here), Coley Palm Print A-Line Shift Dress (shop here
Milly
From Left to Right: Ruffle Tiered Mini Skirt (shop here), Banana Leaf Jordan Mini Dress (shop here)

BUT the true OG, is the wallpaper from the iconic Beverly Hills Hotel.

"Designer and decorator Don Loper created the Martinique Banana Leaf print for the hotel in 1942, and it has maintained a level of cultural influence across design, travel, fashion, and art ever since" - Travel & Leisure

The Beverly Hills Hotel even collaborated with the luxury shoe brand, KOIO, for a three shoe capsule collection - available here.

SO, what do you guys think of this printed trend? Will you break out some color for Spring?

Save The Best For Last...PFW!

SO, fashion month is finally over, with the close out of the week in Paris; where top designers showed their Fall 2018 RTW collection. I posted a little of my faves on my insta (if you haven't followed me yet - do itttt- click here!

I don't even know where to start...

...lets start with Balmain- which by far was my favorite show! From handbags on drones to sequins shining bright for the kira kira app to me drooling over every piece. Oliver Rousteing KILLED it, he kept true to his style but still updated it the future of fashion.

There are no words...watch for yourself!

Saint Laurent,  Ralph&Russo, Unravel, Louis Vuitton, Off - White, Isabel Marant, Elie Saab, Zuhair Murad, and Chanel, all had EPIC shows.

Check out my top 5-10 looks from each of the above shows (so hard picking a max of 10)

SAINT LAURENT
Staying true to the brand image and even hosting it in an architectural forum the public could see
LEGS FA DAYYYS

RALPH & RUSSO
So jet setter chic

UNRAVEL
is the definition of edgy streetwear meets luxury scale

LOUIS VUITTON
time periods collide

OFF WHITE
Virgil Abloh is one of my idols - he has long come out of the shadow of Kanye and has this amazing eye. He bought his parents a horse so he was inspired by that for his show as well " horse "

Elie Saab
Goes grunge

Zuhair Murad
Presentation at Opening of Dubai Store - he never disappoints

Chanel
Autumn in the park vibes - loving the puffer jackets

Honorable mentions to check out:

  • Paco Rabanne
  • Balenciaga for the hypebeasts
  • Isabel Marant

And now the ones I was beyond disappointed from...I don't want to pollute your eyes to much so lets take a look at the 5 worst pieces from each collection.

DIOR
so tragic, a hot mess of moms quilts stitched together with throwback dior bags and acid trip prints

CHLOE
Natacha Ramsay-Levi’s debut collection strayed from the hippic chic vibe of Chloe and in to more of a "hipster" horrible plethora of neutrals

COMME DES GARCONS
Was this an assignment on Project Runway?

Visit Vogue Runway to check out all the looks! Let me know your faves.

Others to note:

The Bad:
  • Giambattista Valli - not up to par with his usual stunning collections
  • Valentino - prepare for colored nun outfits and large florals, BUT the scalloping on some of the pieces are nice

Between Paris and Milan - why bother with NY and London?
