Spring Style: Banana Leaf Print Trend

SO, if you couldn't tell from my outfit blog/insta posts (sare_uh)- I don't wear much color, or prints. HOWEVER, I've recently been inspired to break outside my fashion comfort zone and try some new looks...starting with these banana leaf print or palm print (call it what you want) mules from Schutz*.

Schutz D'Ana Mule: unfortunately they are sold out but Shopbop, Amazon, & Revolve carry this brand

*Schutz has some great shoes for under $200 - I have a couple of their heels also and I must say they are pretty comfortable.

These are a great shoe for spring, on trend, & add some color to my wardrobe! Here's how I styled mine...(obv champ makes the outfit but yah)

This picture brings me back to the old days (before my tripod) of "from where sarah stands"

The banana leaf trend has been popping up everywhere this season with designers like Alice & Olivia and Milly doing their own take on it.

BUT the true OG, is the wallpaper from the iconic Beverly Hills Hotel.

"Designer and decorator Don Loper created the Martinique Banana Leaf print for the hotel in 1942, and it has maintained a level of cultural influence across design, travel, fashion, and art ever since" - Travel & Leisure

The Beverly Hills Hotel even collaborated with the luxury shoe brand, KOIO, for a three shoe capsule collection - available here.

SO, what do you guys think of this printed trend? Will you break out some color for Spring?

How to Style...LEATHER PANTS for Day & Night

SO,  I've always been a bit envious of the girls that can pull off the leather denim/pants look. Considering I'm 5"1 and very petite*, it's hard for me to find a good pair of jeans, let a lone a pair of leather ones.

To add to the challenge, I rarely buy jeans online, even if they are by brands I normally wear. However, I stumbled across these Blank NYC (faux) leather moto pants for $98 (now on sale at Saks for $49.99 - talk about a steal). I mean leather moto pants for under $100 is already a steal, I was a little hesitant as I can't alter them because of the zipper on the ankle. THANK GOODNESS for reviews though, as a few people had posted with my same measurements that they fit them perfectly. SO, I decided to give them a try, a few days later, they arrive and fit PERFECT and the moto style added the perfect grunge but detailed feel! I was beyond excited.

I have worn them a few times now; styled for the day and then dressed up for a night out or a date night. I'm obsessed with them, but I can't wear them TOO much because the washing instructions well basically say to damp them with a washcloth (what a hassle).

CHANEL is always better in 3...DUH!

WHAT IS A SHOE WITHOUT A STORY ATTACHED?

So, I remember when Chanel released their first espadrille, I saved up my first paycheck from a new job back in LA (I had just got back from NY - so circa 2013) and ordered them for myself - the Tan/Black colorway.

BUT..

it wasn't that easy, every Chanel store had a waitlist (you had to put your credit card down), Neiman's and Saks were completely sold out, and of course my shoe size is a 36 (which is very common). I was losing hope. However, the new Neiman Marcus in Topanga had just opened and found my size! I was so excited- for me every purchase I make by myself thru my paychecks, makes it that much more special.

They are so comfortable that I wore the *excuse my language* c**p out of them. On top of that, I was over at a friends house and their pitbull puppy had decided to get his paws on it and chew a whole in them. I legit sat on the floor crying, saying "I don't care how materialistic I look" but those had sentimental value per say.

After my heartbreak, I was like OK maybe I'll get a new pair for Hannukah or something. My mom suggested me taking them to the best shoe repair person in Beverly Hills, Arturo's - I blew her off at first than said whats the harm. So he fixed them completely, redid the sole, and they looked like new!

Dress: H&M, Bag: Gucci

Side note: These were the first versions out, since many people seemed to be having the shoes wear down very easily, they did a double wick sole style.

OF COURSE...
Since I got so much wear out of the OG's I decided, I needed the new version - however, winter was approaching so I wanted a darker color (navy/black), again my hunt began. Luckily I was able to get my hands on them a little bit easier.

BY NOW...
you could call me obsessed, so when I saw the canvas style I was like Oh Em Gee! These are FABULOUS for summer. I mean Chanel is timeless right? Living in California, I'm down in Malibu a lot for the summer for pool parties, etc, these were perfect! I really wanted these turquoise and black pair, however, they were no where to be found, so I settled for the navy/black canvas. Even though I have the navy/black leather, the canvas goes with dresses, where the leather is a bit to heavy.

Shorts: Show Me your MuMu, Bag: Goyard, Bracelet: Hermes

So I will leave you with a CoCo Chanel Quote (basic I know):

A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous.
